The Dancing Architects
The Dancing Architects began in 2014 from a recognition of the parallels between architecture and contemporary dance around the creative use of space and movement.
Each year the group has supported Melbourne’s local dance industry through Melbourne International Arts Festival. The Architects have been Presenting Partner of various dance works, and have facilitated opportunities for Melbourne dancers—through masterclasses and workshops—to collaborate with and leverage the talent from the international dancers brought to Melbourne by the Festival.
Its membership is comprised of some of the best architects in Australia, internationally renowned designers of many of Australia’s landmark buildings.
In 2019, the Dancing Architects have enabled the Festival to present Token Armies and Colossus.
